Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 September 2026
The short version
- Your AI, your memories and your files belong to you. You can see, edit and delete what your AI remembers.
- Our team’s tools show account information only, never your conversations, memories or files.
- We share data only with providers that help run NEMO (hosting, AI models, SMS), never to advertisers.
- SMS is off until you turn it on. No advertising trackers.
1.Who we are
NEMO (“NEMO”, “we”, “us”) provides a personal AI companion service through nemoapp.tech and its apps. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, web app and any future NEMO apps and channels.
Questions or requests about your privacy: [email protected].
2.Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, password and, if you choose, a display name. We never store your password itself, only a secure one-way hash of it.
- If you sign in with Google: Google shares your Google account ID, email address, whether that email is verified, and your name. We use them only to sign you in and link your NEMO account. We don’t get your Google password or access to your Gmail, contacts or files. You can remove NEMO’s access at any time in your Google Account settings.
- Profile preferences: your timezone and language, so your AI can use the right time and language.
- What you share with your AI: your AI’s name, personality and instructions; the messages you exchange with it; the memories it keeps; documents and notes you upload; and tasks and reminders you create. Some of these features are rolling out over time.
- Phone number (optional, when available): only if you add and verify one to receive SMS reminders.
Information collected automatically
- Security and usage records: the IP address, browser type and time of sign-ins, sign-outs and important account changes, which we use to keep your account secure and to investigate abuse.
- Service usage: technical records of how the service is used (for example, how many messages are processed or whether a reminder was delivered), used to run, secure and improve NEMO and to prevent abuse.
We don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t buy information about you from other companies.
3.How we use your information
- To provide NEMO: create your account, run your AI, remember what you ask it to, answer from your documents and send reminders.
- To keep NEMO secure: authenticate you, detect suspicious sign-ins, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To communicate with you about your account, security and important changes to the service.
- To maintain and improve reliability and performance, using aggregated or technical information where possible.
- To comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
4.How your AI processes your data
To generate replies, the relevant parts of your conversation, your AI’s instructions and the memories or document excerpts it needs are sent to AI model providers that process them on our behalf. Today these are DeepSeek (to generate responses) and OpenAI (to create search indexes, called embeddings, for your memories and documents). We may add or change providers; we will update this policy when we do.
We send providers only what is needed to answer you. They process it under their own API terms, which may include keeping requests for a limited time to monitor abuse. We do not sell your content.
Memory is yours to control. Your AI may save useful facts from your conversations (for example, a preference or a goal). You can see every memory, edit or delete it, and turn memory off.
5.Who can see your information
Our team: NEMO’s administration tools are built to show account information only (such as your email address, sign-up date and account status), never your conversations, memories or files. Every administrative action is recorded in an audit log. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it to operate and secure the service.
Service providers who process data for us under agreements that limit how they may use it:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure (our servers run on Amazon Web Services).
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- AI model providers (see above).
- SMS delivery (Textify Africa), only if you turn on SMS reminders.
Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or NEMO.
Business changes: if NEMO is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
6.SMS reminders
SMS reminders are off by default. We send text messages only after you add and verify your phone number and turn SMS on, and only for the kinds of notifications you choose, such as important reminders or missed tasks. Messages come from the sender name NEMO.
We never use your phone number for marketing without your separate consent. You can turn SMS off or remove your number at any time in Settings.
8.How long we keep information
- Account information and your content are kept while your account is active.
- When you delete a memory, document or conversation, it is removed from our live systems. Copies may remain in access-restricted backups for up to 14 days before being deleted.
- Security and audit records are kept for as long as needed to protect the service and meet legal obligations.
- When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where the law requires us to keep it.
9.How we protect your information
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) everywhere, hashed passwords, strictly separated data for every account, rate limiting, two-factor authentication for our administrators, and audit logging of administrative actions.
No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10.Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- delete your information or your account;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (for example, for SMS) at any time;
- lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
You can update your profile, memories and notification settings in the app. For anything else, including deleting your account, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first.
11.International transfers
Our servers and some of our providers are located outside your country, so your information may be processed in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers and apply this policy wherever your information is processed.
12.Children
NEMO is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as NEMO evolves. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
14.Contact us
